What is your understanding of Parenting?
We all have experienced flawed parenting because human beings parented us. Our family should be a secure place in which we could grow and mature, receiving love and affirmation as well as correction and discipline, but often children become adults filled with either hate or hurt.
What should be the goal of Parenting?
Your goal as a parent is to prepare your children for their destiny. God provides the balance between father and mother to ensure that each child is nurtured, blessed, and challenged to greatness.
How do I equip my children?
Parenting is a tough job. But so is being a child growing up in the world today. And unless your child has the right ammunition, they can end up a victim of fear, temptation and compromise. God can help you equip your children for the battles of their lifetime.
How do i invest in my child(ren)
Children want us, not just our provisions. Invest in your children with the words you speak and make deposits into the emotional bank account. They will become critical, cynical, rebellious, and angry when they carry a negative balance. Remember, a parent is the first picture of God that a child sees- so is the real you, more like God or the world around you.
How do I discipline a child?
Discipline will take time, effort, patience, hard work and consistent effort, but the reward will be great. Never discipline a child when reacting emotionally. First, deal with your emotions. Remember, the goal of discipline is to bring a child to repentance, and it is meant to be a blessing. Therefore, discipline will change as a child grows and matures. Biblical discipline is a selfless act that guides the child toward wisdom.
How do I release my children?
Many parents are traumatized when their children leave home. Each day, as you invest, train, teach, and discipline, you prepare your child for release. Make a decision now that you want a child who has become an adult and a friend and not a kid running around in an adult body when you are older.
How do I know God's plan and destiny for my children?
God has a specific plan and destiny for every child He sends into this world. He trusts the care and nurturing of children to parents so that we might cooperate with His plan and help each child fulfil their destiny. Children need to know they are important to God and that He will equip them to do the mission He has for them. Too often, parents try to guide and even control their adult children's decisions. Instead, they need to coach, mentor, counsel and cast visions for their children.
Parents become invaluable counsellors and mentors for children as they grow into courtship, marriage and parenting themselves. We must plan to leave a legacy and inheritance that includes good financial management as well as teaching God's truth to our children.
